Some poems I could turn into songs

Rejection

Alone in a cold world. Our voices go unheard.  Just looking for love. But somehow that seems absurd. Why should anyone want to know who we are, care enough to hear us cry, listen to our dreams, and just see how far our passion drive us. All we wanted was an ear, a shoulder to lean on. Someone with understanding and can see how much we’ve grown. But yet we’re alone. Nobody even notices. Nobody seems care about how strong our focus is.
So they reject us. Shut us out for the norm. We don’t fit in here. It’s as if weren’t even born. Strangers to reality because we see so far ahead. Still our hearts are filled with forgiveness.  Because one day you have no choice but to witness

Society

They us how to smile and how to dress. Just to get paid for a while in an environment full of stress. Or to attract a date they tell us what to say and what to think, mimick our own desires then collect our money from a shrink. The ladies in the magazines become the women of our dreams, but they have to stave just to make it by any means. Men better have abs and that pack better not be less than six, or pay a lady of the night and pray you don’t get sick. To the ladies with a little bit of flab, you still can that job, just in the back away from the staff. And to the men that may not be considered the apple of her eye, even if your are a man it’s ok to cry. Because it’s not our fault this is just how life is. Pawns in a game that’ll never be won, because rules are made to be broken,  if we fight then we shall overcome.

Idols in my backyard

North Carolina
Home of myself and my idol J Cole
I’ve never looked up to anyone in my life
But this guy is an incredible artist and poet
Very few rappers are 100 percent humble when it comes to their passions. But Cole is one I can really relate to
His story is great as well. A smart educated black kid who sets on a journey to be along side his idol [Jay Z]. Waiting in the rain just potentially hand him a mixtape of his work and the things he wished to accomplish.
His music speaks volumes to those who’ve been through or is going through tough times.
One song that I think is my most relatable would be a song titled “2 face”
It depicts life growing up in the lower class and dealing with dreaming of a better way to live, also being caught up in the allure of streets influences on a young mind.

Another reason, of many, that J Cole inspires me is because we’re both from North Carolina.  I used to think that we could only go to UNC or Duke to get out of here. As a youth I always thought I had to play a sport in order to get a chance at least to leave the place that brought me down so much in my mind. But after growing up and maturity hit me I soon realized that I had to find another outlet. I’ve always had an passion for poetry and music. So I began to write poems on a daily normally just to impress a girl but once I started to share them on Facebook and tumblr I soon figured that maybe I should do something with my talent.

Then I came across the music of J Cole and things changed drastically.  I’ve always considered myself as a dreamer,  but he embodies what that meant.  Ever since I heard his music my dreams have gotten bigger. I want to be to the people what he is to me.
I too want people to dream and dream big. To achieve the success we all strive for but eludes our grasp.

Rapping may not have been my first choice, but I wish greatly that I can do something musically.  My dollar and dream started awhile back. Although I have no studio I have the biggest heart and the biggest drive. I look at my family and pray I can do well for them the most and the best I can.

Be different

You can dare to be different as long as you keep it persistent
And if you don’t open your mouth who do you expect to listen
No presents on Christmas but still I remain gifted
I don’t know what’s out there for me but I can tell you what isn’t
sitting around sitting around dreaming, hoping, and wishing
Thoughts I use to envision of cooking up in the kitchen
Hit the strip and move it fast like I was Felix out here pitchin
This isn’t a rap song, just some words from a dreamer
My story is never finished until everybody’s a believer
It’s hard to believe that I turned into poet while everyone else carried a heater
I mean I tried to fit in, keep a blue flag in my pocket
Fighting at the local parties, girlfriend screaming “Someone please stop it”
Gun was in was in my face, life flashed my eyes, but he forgot to cock it
It was then I knew I chose the wrong life
Soon as I got home I cried the whole the night
Tears streaming down my face because knew it wasn’t right
And ever since then my ideas took flight
Why waste this talent
I took everything I been through I started to write
You can dare to be different as long as you keep it persistent
And if you don’t open your mouth who do you expect to listen
